PDF to PNG FAQ
Is the PDF uploaded to a server?
No. PDF.js renders each page to a canvas in your browser, then the canvas is encoded as PNG. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why is PNG larger than JPG?
PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly. JPG compresses by discarding image detail. PNG file sizes can be several times larger, especially for photographic pages.
What does transparent background do?
It skips painting the page white before rendering. Any whitespace that the PDF itself draws as white will still be opaque white, but the page border and empty areas become transparent.
How many pages can I convert?
There is no fixed limit. Devices with more memory handle bigger PDFs. High DPI conversions of long PDFs can be slow because each page generates a high-resolution canvas.
What is the page range format?
Use 1, 5, 12 for single pages and 3-7 for a range. Combine them with commas, for example 1-3,7,9-10. Leave blank to convert every page.
Can I get JPGs instead?
Yes. Use the PDF to JPG tool for smaller files when lossless quality is not required.
